Original idea and final idea.

Original Idea.
Our original idea was based on the music video Work Out by J.Cole, it is a party song and the original video takes place in a basketball court therefore our interpretation of a party scene would be completely different to the original therefore ensuring we didn't copy any of the scenes. We chose this song because it would suit our desired music video as we wanted to create a fun party atmosphere with a song that didn't have a deep meaning.

We decided to use the lyrics to control the video as he mentions a dice therefore we would have large inflatable dice thrown up at the party, He then uses lyrics that question the video such as 'is this just a hit and run?' therefore we would have our model miming in a spot light to show his involvement in the video and the lyrics.

We chose to have parents at the beginning looking at a video on youtube of a party it will then become full screen to show the party footage we decided to use a rewind editing technique to highlight going back to the night before. The party would then be most of the video until at the end when the parents realise the party happened in their house they then walk upstairs to go in their daughters room and find her sleeping in bed with a man she would be wearing his top to hint at something happening.

We decided against our initial idea as it would be hard to film due to relying on parents and trying to create a message through nothing but facial expressions therefore it could easily look flat. The party would be such a prominent part that if it went wrong our video would be ruined therefore we decided to change our idea completely.

Final Idea.

After many meetings we decided to change our idea as the party video would be too hard to shoot as we would be relying on too many people. We tried to film the party however the house we planned to have it in backed out at the last minute therefore we saw the issue with trying to rely on other people outside the group. Our first attempt made us re-think our idea which allowed us to create out final idea.
We change our song to Swimming Pools by Kendrick Lemar This video uses some party scenes but mostly has scenes on swimming pools and drink bottles smashing. This ensures we could create some party scenes yet also create other scenes to fill most of the video to ensure we could control most of the scenes. Due to the original video being quite repetitive we would be able to create new ideas that would be completely different from the original video.

We decided to use a main boy that would be in almost every scene, we will incorporate a message throughout this boy as music videos that have a point to them are always successful as the scenes will have a meaning.

This boy will be drinking and partying in some of the scenes yet this will contrast to the scenes where he is alone in a room thinking and when he is in the bath. We will then see an enigma he has created of a girl yet we are never aware who this girl was to him and what has happened to her.

We will show she is an enigma by blurring out her scenes and making her costume stand out from the others in the scene.

In one scene the main boy will go under water in a bath yet the girl will come back up, this shows how she is always on his mind. He will then grab the side of the bath which will be followed by her grabbing the side this will show she is the cause for his panic as he is clearly bothered by these thoughts of her.

The video will show he is dependent on alcohol as a way to forget as one scene will show a text message appearing claiming someone is worried about him, this will be followed by another text asking if he is going to the party tonight. He will then go to the party showing how he is influenced by others and by drinking.

Our message is dependency and depression as he relies on drink to help him forget this girl that is shown throughout. We will use lighting to convey this message as well as facial expressions and gestures.
