CD holder research.
Most Cd cases use similar or the same images from either the left hand side of the case or the design of the CD for the area the CD sits in. This is to ensure continuity and a package that all relates and incorporates every feature. Ours will follow this convention as it is popular in many digipaks as it looks more professional and creates a package that corresponds with every feature used.
My research proves my theory of related images throughout and also helps me decide how it should be done and whether or not it should lead on from the design on the left or relate to the design or the CD itself… or possible even both as seen in some of my research.

This CD area relates to the whole album, ours
will do that also in terms of the colour scheme, nevertheless, I don’t feel
ours should have a bold design on as it would take away the attention from the CD and it would look quite cramped whereas our work is quite simplistic for the
rest of our digipak.
I like the idea of a design that links to the album but I would ensure it wasn't too bold as the images around it will be quite simplistic and artistic rather than bold and crowded like this one.
This research was useful as it showed me what I wouldn't want our CD area to be like as I feel this isn't the design I would be looking for as I like simpler designs.

This CD area is better than the first one
despite it being quite similar in terms of relating the design of the area to
the design of the CD. I prefer this one as it isn't as crowded as the first
one.
The design for this CD relates to the genre of music, it creates a successful tone and it attracts the audience due to the bright colours and clear relation to strobe lights which the audience would like if they listen to this sort of music as it is a common feature.
We would aim for this in our design as it is very successful. We want something to relate to our tone and message and also link to the other images in our digipak, yet we don’t want to overcrowd the space we have. Therefore we want a simplistic design that will attract the audience visually without effecting the text and any other features.

I like this design as it is eye catching, the continuity and transition of image onto the other side of the case is excellent which makes it look very professional. I like the idea of the design carrying on from the rest of the case which means the design is the same even when the Cd is out of the case. I feel I would use this in my own design as it creates a unchanged variable which shows the audience that this image relates to the tone and message so that people are aware the design is an important part of the whole project.
I don’t like the bold overpowering colours for the Cd itself as I feel it is hard to read, nevertheless I like the design for the rest of the case therefore I see why they have printed it on the Cd despite the issue with the similar colour tones in the text and yellow sky.

The black and orange digipak will
be similar to our own as it will have a similar design in terms of the same
image being printed on the area behind the CD. I like how the colours contrast
each other as this makes the CD case eye-catching as it attracts the audience
as there is a bold contrast.
This digipak is visually successful as it is simplistic yet the design makes it eye-catching as the images used fit with the design therefore it looks successful despite being quite simple.
This will probably be our main inspiration as the design carries on behind the CD yet also incorporates the design onto the CD to make it more interesting so that people can know what artist the CD belongs to by just looking at it as they can relate the design visually to the artist which is hard to do on a plain CD with just text.
