Filming of
the glass overflowing.
This filming consisted of a glass being filled from a wine bottle that had raspberry juice and red food colouring in. This was done to look like it was real red wine. We poured it into a glass until it overflowed in order for it to illustrate his excessive alcohol abuse. The overflowing of alcohol ensures the audience is aware it is a common problem and that he is consuming too much alcohol.
This footage was successful in terms of its message and the colours used. It would work nicely with the tone of our music video and it would fit with the other footage in our video.
The only unsuccessful part of this filming is the visible white lines of the paper background. The paper was used to give it a background that wouldn't distract from the glass and would make it look professional. We used paper as it could be thrown away after as the food dye would ruin any other material. This is a problem that we tried to overcome by blurring the footage however this ruined the effect of the glass overflowing.
Re-shooting the glass overflowing.
We re-filmed the glass overflowing as the lines in the paper were too visible. We chose to do it outside this time as we wouldn't have to control the location as much as the natural background wouldn't need to be covered.
We changed the glass so that is related to our colour scheme as a lot of our footage has a blue or orange tint to them therefore by making the glass blue it relates to the scenes that involve water such as the bath and the swimming pool.
We didn't have any red wine so we used white however this was still successful as you can visually see the bubbles while it is being poured which makes it look authentic. However, the only downfall to this new shot is that you can’t see it overflow clearly as it isn't a dark coloured liquid like the one in our first shoot. Other than that issue I feel it is visually an improvement from our first attempt.
