Creating our new CD front cover:
Our
main research which influenced us:

Our original design:

We couldn't use this as the background was created using roses that were saved from the internet despite editing them in Photoshop.
Nevertheless we liked the design therefore we wanted to keep it as similar as possible as it related to our research perfectly, yet the altered background, changing the diamonds to roses, the different colour text and layout for the title and artists name means that we responded to our research in order to make it our own.
We also added the wine bottle to make it relate to our music video as this gave a clear relation to our Digipak and music video mise-en-scene.

Creating
our new front CD cover:
I created this background using the same image that is used on our Cd and Cd holder to ensure each feature relates and corresponds with each other so that this image becomes iconic and can be related to our album so that people recognise it due to a main design being featured on many products.
I created the background by placing it on photoshop and re-sizing it to fill the album space enough to show up behind the image that will be placed in the middle.

I then added the image into the middle of the CD as this is what is on our research, and it will enable the rest of our text and images to line up with it so that it looks symmetrical and professional.

I then created a gold border like our original idea, this relates to our research as TheWeeknd uses a white border: we chose gold to symbolise wealth and fit with the R&B genre.
This border was hard to create as i had to make each line the same width and then make sure they were the same colour tones, i then had to place them around the image making sure they line up. This was very time consuming but improved our front cover visually.

I then added the title in using the same font we used throughout which is Birch STD, i then made it the same gold as the border and increased the space width to line up with the edges of the border, this is to make it look symmetrical and professional as everything will line up and look like it belongs.

I then added the artists name, this wasn't in capital letters as that has been our design all along. I made it the same font yet made it a smaller so that the album title stands out, this makes it look professional as it is clear the artist doesn't need to make his name clear as people recognise him. I increased the width space to line up evenly with the word 'Troubled' and also be in the centre of the image.

I then added the three roses in, we were going to try photograph our own but as the photography A level student i tried my best yet it was hard to capture due to the lighting therefore we contacted the owner of this image and asked for their permission which they then gave, therefore, i used the ones in our first draft.
My
rose photography:

These weren't very successful as the lighting was wrong yet it was too dark when i photographed my other images, therefore i couldn't get the light balance right. This wasn't too much of a problem as we were given permission to use the original rose image we edited.
This is the email from the owners of the image giving our group permission to use the rose image.

final front of our CD case:
