Font draft for album title - smokey

writing

This is our drawing of how we plan to use the smokey writing.
It will be coming from a match that is held close to the face of our model.
Firstly, Poppy created a new document size and then created a new layer called ‘background’and filled this layer with a black background colour.
Next she created a new layer called ‘clouds’ and set the toolbar foreground colour to 49667a and the background colour to 1b2934. She then selected the lasso selection tool and made its feather amount ’30px’ and created a rough selection around the centre of the canvas.
Then went to filter>convert for smart filters. So you are able to select the filter you want. Then select filter>render>clouds. Due to the selection edge being feathered, the cloud area has a soft edge. Poppy then reduced the layers opacity to 50% to make the clouds more subtle.
Poppy then inserted the text that she wanted by changing the colour and the font to the way we wanted it and then changed the text layer’s blend mode to ‘overlay’.
Poppy then went back to filter>convert for smart filters. Then to filter>blur>motion blur and then changed the motion blur settings the angle: 90 and distance 20 pixels. This then started to give it a smoky appearance she then duplicated the text layer, then reduced the opacity of the duplicate layer to 15% to make it faded.
Then placed the pictures of smoke in on my canvas over the writing where we want the letters to look smoky.
We then played around with the hue and saturation to make the picture brighter, and changed the saturation to -100. This created an underlying smoke layer. Poppy then changed the smoke layer’s blend mode to‘colour dodge’ and its opacity to 15% to fade it so you can see the word.
