This research is important as it highlights the different designs our genre use throughout many different artists. This gives us an idea into how we can create ours as we need an overall idea of what is common within our genre. This is crucial as it has to be visually clear in terms of our artist’s message and our target audience. These chosen albums highlight how men use themselves as the model, this is important as we were trying to decide whether to feature our model on the album or a prop such as the handcuffs in the album at the bottom of the Padlet.
The male models use a darker, sinister tone compared to the girls album covers, the girls use a lot more colour which would have been our inspiration if our tone of our music video was different. The girls album covers are still as useful as the men as we need ideas and research based on how to place our model on the front. This will be refined using these existing albums as we need to decide how much of his body will be shown and at what angle he will be standing.
Not many of these albums use props however the ones that do relate to our plan as we wanted smoke and the hand cuffs work well if we decided to not feature a model as our video appears quite sinister as if i crime has been committed therefore the hand cuffs would work well.

The models are the most important aspect of most of these album covers, Trey Songz album is different from the others we researched as the background ensures he is the main focus which relates the TheWeeknd's album. This will be similar to our album as we want the background to appear dark and sinister to relate to the tone of his music and the emotionless facial expression we use throughout our video as this will feature on the album. This facial expression will be similar to the album T.I Paper Trail as his face is just shown looking at the camera, the lack of other body parts ensures his expression is the main focus.
The Weeknd will relate to our own album as the use of the girl is successful as it relates to our music video, the fact her face isnt shown is successful as she is an enigma. TheWeeknd's expression is successful as it is reserved and emotional due to him turning his face away from the camera. The womans arms around his neck shows her hold over him like Lilly in our video.
The background of Trey Songz will link to ours as the darker shadows and black and white tone links to our sinister message to our song which will work well on our album cover. We would probably focus our own models face more than the body in this one as his emotion is the most important aspect.
