Final production of the back of the CD cover.

Creating our first draft for the back of the CD cover.

This was our original idea for the back of our CD cover as we wanted roses to symbolise death as they are commonly used for funerals when throwing on the coffin.

We adapted our research image by planning to keep the petals red yet editing the stems to make them gold as gold symbolises wealth. They would then be put on a black background as the darkness is used to indicate depression and the dark message to our music video.

After discussing this idea we as a group decided we would alter our original idea and research by changing it to incorporate an alcohol bottle. This was due to alcohol being a large part of our music videos message and our target audience would be attracted to it more. The roses would still be used but it would revolve around the bottle, the colour scheme would remain as the colour connotations successfully meet our tone and mood of our genre.

This is our final design, I have shown how this was made in another blog. As you can see it incorporates our original idea as it still uses the rose and the same position as we had planned. However, our changes ensure it relates to our tone and message of our music video and therefore matches our product as a whole.

The songs we chose to feature on our album:

Swimming Pools
Poetic Justice
Art of Peer Pressure
Wicked Games
Monster
Survival
Devil May Cry
Echoes of Silence
Disturbia
The Party after the Party.

We chose these songs as some of them are actual Kendrick Lemar songs and the others link to the message of our video.
Peer Pressure links to the reason he is drinking as our music video includes a text from his friend asking him to bring drink.
Monster links to the depression and alcohol abuse.
Survival links to the ambiguous use of Lilly and the mental and physical state of Connor after his depression and Alcohol abuse is clear.
Echoes of Silence is quite a depressive title which links to our tone and mood.
The Party after the Party links to the affect on his body which comes after his constant partying and drinking.

How we completed the look for the back of our CD cover:

The barcode:
This is the bar code we used.
We used the clone stamp tool to remove some of the numbers and replace them with another in order to change it into a bar code that doesn't exist due to copyright.

The copyright information:

We chose to use the information that is originally on our artist Kendrick Lemars album as the information about his record labels is accurate therefore we didn't need to change this. We altered the font and colour in order to suit our design. I feel we made the right decision using the correct information that is on his other albums as it looks very professional and is actually the correct information.

The producer’s information:

The executive producers information was gathered from the internet as we used Kendrick Lemar's real producers to make it more realistic and professional. We used the same font and colours to incorporate each feature in order for them to compliment each other. This production was successful as the colours stand out well against the dark background.

The record label signs:

We incorporated the real logos for the record labels as this would make it more realistic and highlight the extensive research we undertook for our final product. We placed them differently on our own product compared to our research as we placed them over the producers information rather than the record labels information as we changed the position of these things to ensure we wasn't copying the design of the real product.

The dotted lines to add the writing to:

We added the dotted lines to add the text to which would include the name of our album, artist, record label, and CD number this adds a successful visual feature which is common on most CD's.

First of all we added the title of our album using the same font as it will be on the actual front of the CD. This then had the artists name next to it in the same font as it will be on the front of the CD. We achieved this by saving the text's font into one of our layers and inserting it onto our album.

We then added the record label 'Top Dawg' as this name fitted with our R&B genre. We then added the number of the CD to make it look professional and successful.
