Filming of Connor burning photos of Lilly.

Filming of Connor burning photos of Lilly.

The pictures we chose and why:

We chose to use this image of Lilly as she is clearly going out to a special occasion and she is naturally posing and happily smiling which means it could have been taken by someone she is comfortable and happy with. This means the audience thinks it has been taken by Connor which could be one of the reasons he is burning it as the memory of Lilly is clearly affecting him.

We chose to use this image of Lilly as she looks natural and the photo is quite personal as Connor could have taken this while spending time with her. The fact she is comfortable being completely natural with him shows their relationship was quite close and loving as she is happy to be herself with him. He could be burning this image as the memory of how close they were is forcing him to drink so that he can forget her.

This photo creates a visual direct link between our two models as they are together and clearly happy. We used Lilly in her school uniform as this is the costume she is wearing at the beginning when she is running therefore this shows that what happened is very recent, this highlights why Connor is still suffering and physically affected. The fact Lilly is smiling in both images show how Connor made her happy which means the audience believe there was a close bond and possible relationship between them which makes them understand why he can't stop thinking about her despite her no longer being with him.

The images are all useful when burning as they show a direct link between both of our models and indicates that Connor is drinking and depressed due to the loss of Lilly whether through death or her leaving him. The real reason Lilly isn't there is ambiguous, however, the effect she has on Connor is always clear which is why burning these photos worked so well.

This footage was used to show Connor's fixation with Lilly and his anger towards her. This makes it clear that his drinking and depression is due to Lilly as he is burning her photo's out of anger.

This shot is taken over his shoulder which is quite personal as we feel like we are connected and get an insight into what he is doing. Once the photo is burning the camera then zooms in on it to ensure the photo of Lilly is clear so that the audience link it to the other footage of her. The fact it is a picture of them two together indicates a relationship between them which highlights why he is depressed as she is clearly no longer with him. This connects the two in the video clearly which is something our video needed as the footage of our two models was always separate.

This footage is a different angle as we are at the side of Connor in order for the picture to be the main focus. The shot still zooms in on the photo as it burns and then ends as the photo is completely engulfed in flames. This shot and angle is successful as it ensures we know what the main focus is and we can clearly see this is an intimate photo of Lilly that Connor could have taken himself as she is clearly ready to go out and she is smiling to show she was happy. This could be why he is burning the photo as the memory of her being happy could be what makes him more depressed as he is remembering the good times which is driving him to alcohol.

This is a different angle from the rest as we are over his other shoulder which makes us see what he is seeing. The photo is still clear which is successful as it is clearly an intimate photo as Lilly has no make-up on and is obviously comfortable with the person taking the photo which is hinted at being Connor. Once the photo is burning we see him drop the photo to the floor where remaining ash from the other photos are, this is successful as the way he drops it indicates his despair and depression as he crosses his hands and watches it while it burns. This is quite emotional as he is clearly physically and mentally affected by the memory of Lilly.
